Je m’appelle Maelle, j’ai 35 ans.
Au 6 mois de mon fils, le corps médical me demande d’arrêter d’allaiter pour soigner mes problèmes de santé. Mon instinct n’est pas en accord avec cette décision mais après tout je me suis déjà bien battue donc je propose à mon fils de téter une dernière fois, en lui expliquant que s’il n’en a pas envie on arrêterait juste le lait de maman. Et incroyable mais vrai, il accepte de reprendre le sein. Je suis en larmes et il me regarde avec ses grands yeux qui demanderaient presque pourquoi je pleure, et moi je pleure parce que je sais que malgré toutes ces galères, ça valait la peine de vivre ce moment. Ce moment où je retrouve cinq mois plus tard, mon grand bébé, sa bouche bien retroussée contre mon sein et ses yeux gris verts plongés dans les miens. Aujourd’hui il va avoir quinze mois, et c’est toujours mon or blanc qui coule dans son petit corps qui a bien grandi. Tout est si simple maintenant qu’il reprend le sein.
Évidemment je commence à prendre des remarques ou des regards insistants des mêmes personnes qui ne croyaient pas en ma capacité de nourrir mon fils ; mais peu importe tout est si simple maintenant, c’est notre allaitement à tous les deux, notre histoire, ma puissance.
Sous les conseils de ma consultante en lactation, j’utilise le super tire-lait “Medela Hands Free”, une révolution, ce qui me permet de tirer en voiture pendant les longs trajets, au restaurant ou si Y. ne tète pas, car oui si je ne tire pas quand elle devrait téter, j’ai tendance aux baisses de lait mais c’est okay pour moi.
Ma mère m’a dit dernièrement : “Tu allaites toujours ? Parce que je trouve que tu as des petits seins”. “Alors super, merci… oui j’allaite toujours et rien à voir avec le volume de mes seins.”
L’essentiel est de croire en soi et en son bébé, garder confiance et accepter qu’un allaitement fluctue toujours et que rien n’est jamais acquis.
C’est un réel plaisir d’allaiter et tant qu’elle voudra, je donnerais. C’est aussi un réel travail de lâcher prise, d’accepter ce qui est et de l’accueillir.
